COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

  • What will we do in this class?

Each class will include warm- ups, stretching, breathing (pranayama), an exercise set (a kriya), deep relaxation, and a meditation.  We will be doing Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan.

  • Who is the teacher?  What are her qualifications?

Dukh Niwaran Kaur studied directly with Yogi Bhajan and is an experienced KRI Certified Teacher whose classes embody her personal gentle approach.

  • I’m not flexible.  Is this a good class for me?

“You don’t need to be a pretzel to do Kundalini Yoga.”

Shakti Parwha Kaur Khalsa

Yes, this is a good class for you.  All abilities are welcome.

  • What ages is this class for?

This class is for all ages and abilities. I’ve had people of all ages take my classes.

  • I have health problems.  Can I do this?

This is a question for you and your doctor.  I am willing to adapt anything to your needs.  My focus is on what you can do—not what you can’t do.  In each exercise listen to your own body and do what is right for you.  Kundalini Yoga is not a competition.  It is discovering how to use more of your potential—physically, mentally and spiritually.  Contact me and let’s discuss how we can make this class work for you.

  • I’m coming directly from work?  Is there a place to change?

There are 2 large restrooms where you can change.

  • What do I need to bring to class?
  1.  An exercise mat, towel, or blanket if you have them and want to bring them.  There are meditation pillows available.  The room is carpeted.
  2.  Glasses or contacts if you wear them to see meditation or song sheets.j
  • What benefits might I get from doing this Kundalini Yoga class?

Of course, the benefits are individual and won’t be the same for each person, but students have often reported to me that they have increased flexibility, mental alertness and energy after taking classes. They say they are calmer, can handle stress better, and breathe deeper.  They feel more in touch with their inner guidance/intuition/God.  They feel healthier.

Suzanne this is the only time I am offering this class now. There are many other Kundalini Yoga Classes in the Santa Cruz area and some of them are in the daytime. Most of these are more vigorous, larger and fast-paced classes, but I know an 86 year-old man who goes to them and does just what he can. He has gotten a great deal from doing Kundalini Yoga. These other classes are mostly at Divinitree on Water Street.
